作者介绍
霍默·肯特（Homer Kent, Jr.）在印第安纳州威诺纳湖的Grace Theological Seminary和Grace College任教50年，并担任神学院院长14年、两所学校的校长10年，退休时被授予名誉校长和名誉新约与希腊语教授的称号。他曾在美国各地以及法国、匈牙利和中非共和国讲学，还多次前往以色列和其他圣经中的国家旅行，常常带领学生团队。肯特博士毕业于Bob Jones University（文学学士）和Grace Theological Seminary（道学硕士、神学硕士、神学博士），著作颇丰，撰写了15卷新约书信的注释书，并著有《Gospel of Matthew》（《Wycliffe Bible Commentary》）和《Epistle to the Philippians》（《Expositors Bible Commentary》）。

前言
希伯来书因诸多显著的特征，在圣经学者心目中占有特殊的地位。从很早时期，这封书信的作者就成了一个谜，虽说他本人丝毫没有想对读者隐藏自己，因为他请他们为自己祷告、为他能够亲自拜访他们祷告（13:18、19）。对于认真的学者来说，关于这封书信所涉及的第一读者位于哪里、写作时间以及促成这封信的特殊背景，远比新约其他书卷的许多问题大得多。
这封令人瞩目的书信包括新约中关于基督是信徒的大祭司最完整的讨论。在旧约中，麦基洗德只在两个极短的段落中一闪而过，但在希伯来书他却是论述的一个重点，构成了长达三章内容的讨论基础。书中关于基督超越性既娴熟又有系统的论证，是任何其他新约作者无法相比的。文中的论述逻辑严密，显示出作者有条理的思维，紧紧地抓住了基督真理的核心，让每一位圣经学者都受益于他。信中对旧约的应用恰到好处，有些关于预表的真知灼见尤为突出。另外，在书信各处出现的告诫，语气极为严厉，足以使最好的诠释者感到压力重重。
